The Book Shelf

A collection of books that have found their way onto my shelf and into my heart.

-Masters of the Living Energy: The Mystical World of the Q'ero Of Peru -Joan Parisi Wilcox
This book is filled with in-depth interviews with the Q'ero shamans of the Andes. These beautifully descriptive stories detail many Andean spiritual practices, giving the reader a clear picture of what Andean Shamanism is all about.

-The Pachakuti Mesa: Peruvian Shamanism - Matthew Magee
In this book Matthew Magee outlines the basic practices of the Pachakuti Mesa Tradition, as taught by Don Oscar Miro-Quesada. Included in this extensive, yet short, book are energetic healing practices, despacho ceremonies, and a wealth of  information on Andean Cosmology.

-The Book of The Hopi- Frank Waters
One of the best books I've read on Hopi practices, and their elaborate and colorful history.

-Quest - Denise Lynn
Although this book claims to be a guide to creating your own vision quest, I feel that it's scope is much broader! There are many ideas and practices from this work that I find useful outside of vision quest, and a great deal of practical wisdom.

-Maya Cosmos: Three Thousand Years on the Shaman's Path- David Freidel, Linda Schele, Joy Parker
The incredible amount of information is staggering with these authors. This is a great book for those interested in Mayan Cosmology and spiritual practices. This book details many of the transformations that Mayan tradition have underwent, outlining practices that are still in use today.

-The Sacred Pipe- Black Elk
These are the accounts of Black Elk, who gives concise instructions on the Seven Sacred Rites given to the Lakota from White Buffalo Woman, this is a must read!
